The club are pleased to announce the addition of two new waters to their portfolio. The New Acquisitions Team headed up by Bill Last have recently secured the waters which are available for all members to fish with immediate effect.
The new venues comprise of a prime stretch of the upper River Severn adjacent to our existing Llandrinio length and a small but well established 10 peg pool in Runcorn known locally as Slaters Pit.
The additional length at Llandrinio runs from our existing upper stream limit for a further 1200 yards making the new length over a mile long in total, access is excellent and parking has been agreed within 30 yards of the mid-way point. This stretch of the Severn has some very deep runs and has recently produced barbel into double figures, bank side access is easy and very flat offering anglers a significant number swim choices along its length.
Although the density of stock is relatively unknown the stamp of fish here is well above average with barbel of 8lb+ being the norm, Chub and Grayling are also of specimen size and the owner has told the club that this stretch has produced good sized Salmon in the past with 9 being caught in a week by a regular visitor.
The new and existing lengths combine to give over a mile of prime river fishing…
Located just off the A483 near Oswestry the post code is the same as the existing stretch in the map book although the current map book will be updated shortly with further details.
Parking is available within 30 yards of the mid-way point…
The venue really has to be seen to be fully appreciated with the mountain backdrop and abundance of wild life it is ideal to hold cub events like the Barbel Fish-Ins next year.
Slaters Pit is a small pool with ten wooden platforms in place. Recently it’s been about 3 foot down on its normal level but it looks reasonably deep. The pool is believed to hold a good head of carp, tench, perch and silvers.
Located just off the A558 Daresbury Express Way on Longbenton Way access to the pool is very good, with a road less than 20 yards away and good parking within 50 yards.
Club signs will ensure that locals are made aware that the club now has sole fishing rights to the venue and it will be regularly visited by club bailiffs.
Parking within 50 yards and easy access…
The club are actively seeking new waters and often consider a number of potential venues before taking a new one on so if you’re aware of an opportunity that may appeal to our membership then please let us know via the Contact Us page on our website.
Tight lines and enjoy the new waters,
Lymm AC Committee.
